As president of Ariel Investments, Hobson serves as chairman of the board of trustees for mutual funds along with managing the firm and overseeing strategic operations outside of portfolio management and research. She also serves on the boards of The Estee Lauder Cos. Inc. and Starbucks Corp, her segments on ABC’s Good Morning America, find her contributing expert financial advice by giving viewers savvy tips on money decisions. In 2009, Hobson hosted the ABC special Unbroke, where she and Hollywood stars helped educate the public on money management. A graduate of Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of International Relations and Public Policy, Princeton’s former university trustee has two honorary doctorates for humanities—one from Howard University and another from St. Mary’s College.
