Be sure to get an annual comprehensive eye exam. "During an eye examination, the optometrist can determine much more than just your prescription for eyeglasses or contact lenses," Miller-Johnson says. "He or she can detect common eye diseases, and evaluate your eyes as an indicator of your overall health.more
Eat nutritious foods and maintain a healthy weight. What you eat affects your sight as it does any other body function. Also, illnesses such as diabetes, which are linked to unhealthy eating habits and obesity, put people at higher risk for vision loss.more
