Based on journalist Douglas Blackmon's Pulitzer Prize-winning book of the same name and narrated by actor Laurence Fishburne, the film takes a hard look at the paralleles between slavery and the prison system. Featuring intimate interviews with historians and descendants of slaves, as well as vivid reenactments, Slavery By Another Name makes for a powerful body of work by the longtime Spike Lee collaborator.
