2014 Black Enterprise Woman of Power: Sam Club’s CEO Rosalind Brewer

Rosalind Brewer is president and CEO of Sam’s Club, a members-only warehouse club channel with revenues of $56 billion and 620 outlets nationwide. This division of Walmart surpasses many major corporations in revenue and scale. Brewer joined Sam’s Club, a division of Wal-Mart Stores, Inc., in 2012. Part of her winning growth strategy includes a focus on technology and innovation, and brand expansion.

The executive began her Walmart career in 2006 as a regional vice president, overseeing operations in Georgia. Before joining Walmart, she worked for Kimberly-Clark Corporation for 22 years.

Brewer received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Spelman College. In addition, she attended the advanced management program at The Wharton School and graduated from Director’s College at the University of Chicago School of Business/Stanford School of Law. Brewer was featured in Black Enterprises’ 100 Most Powerful Executives
