Jackson is the target of a federal probe into his campaign accounts, and is trying to negotiate a deal with the feds, though a deal is not yet in place.
“I am aware of the ongoing federal investgation into my activities,” Jackson said in the letter. “And I am doing my best to address the situation responsibly, cooperate with the investgators, and accept responsibility for my mistakes, for they are my mistakes and mine alone.â€
A source close to the former Congressman said he had planned to give a press conference but was unable to do so because he “couldn’t stop crying.”
