India.Arie Accused Of Lightening Skin, Denies it on Facebook

India.Arie hasn’t put out an album in years and on the cusp of her newest one, there is a controversy amidst. The ‘Brown Skin’ singer has been accused of having her skin ‘lightened’ over the years based on the cover of her latest single, ‘Cocoa Butter,’ off her upcoming album, ‘Songversations.’

The singer took to her Facebook page to address the issue. ‘Love to all #SoulBirdsWorldWide are you ready for this #SongVersation? Personally speaking! I’m happy to say I have NOT BLEACHED my skin LOL! ROTF at the thought.’

India.Arie’s album, ‘Songversations,’ comes out June 25th on Soulbird/Motown Records. This is her first project since 2009’s ‘TESTIMONY VOL. 2, LOVE AND POLITICS.’
