THE PRESENT IS ALL THAT MATTERS
Your Klout score is based on a rolling 90-day window. However, the most recent activity has more bearing on scoring than old activity. So, no matter how low your score is, what you do over the next week is all that matters in getting a higher score. Short-term lapses in social media presence also tend to have less of an effect, but beware of month-long drops. Your score will gradually decrease.
Tip: Keep in mind that the higher your Klout score, the more difficult it becomes to increase your score exponentially. Don’t get discouraged if you don’t blow past 80 in the next week, just keep working at it.
Since its 2008 launch, Klout has been praised as a helpful tool for social influence, and criticized on score inconsistencies all in the same breath. Technology blogger Diego Basch summed it up best: “It’s simply a game that measures how good you are at it. Your Klout score measures how good you are at getting a high Klout score.â€
While Klout maintains that their "True Reach" metric is a work in progress, it’s hard not to view the number as the end-all, be-all of one’s digital influence. It matters so much so that companies are using the scoring system to decide whether or not they’ll employ an individual. Sam Fiorella’s job interview was cut short when he admitted to not knowing about Klout. After the dismissal, Fiorella spent the next six months working to boost his Klout score, ultimately reaching 72. With interactive influence determining whether or not you’ll land your next job (or VIP status at an upcoming event), here are 5 tips to boosting your Klout score in 5 days.--Terrena Carrimanmore

ADD ALL YOUR SOCIAL PROFILES, ESPECIALLY FACEBOOK
Everyone has a Klout score automatically generated from Twitter, which serves as the primary account. Up to 12 social media profiles can be linked to your account, with at least 6 more being added in the near future. Including more profiles creates a clearer picture of your brand’s total social impact, especially if your strongest platform is not Twitter.
Tip: Adding Facebook significantly improves your score, more than adding other platforms.more
POST THE GOOD STUFF, AND POST IT A LOT
Publish engaging content as often as possible. It’s the quality that creates a loyal, interactive fan base. As long as you are consistent with the interaction and establish yourself as a brand with a unique voice, you won’t have to worry about people sharing your content.
Tip: Social media is extremely visual so if you’re unsure about what to post, go with photos. Link your photo-sharing platforms to Facebook and/or Twitter for easy syndication.more
GET INTO YOUR TOPICS
Because you are “more than just a number†to Klout, they analyze your most influential topics based on your engagement. So, theoretically, if you’re truly an expert on apples, every time you mention apples on Twitter, your mentions and retweets will go towards increasing your overall Klout score. Assess what topics your brand centers around; use them as keywords in your posts so you are always a part of that conversation. Keep your timeline fresh by watching the latest news from influencers.
Tip: Aim high. Use Klout’s topical influencer lists. Step it up by checking their curated Twitter lists, as well as Twitter lists they’ve been included on to discover who they consider influential.more
GET INFLUENCERS TO TALK BACK
You don’t lose clout for engaging with low scorers, but you do increase your influence by getting high scorers to @mention and RT you. Digital dialogue begins with reading—by the way, people know when you don’t read. It’s also good practice to share with your network, asking thoughtful questions, and even telling someone you enjoy their post. Content producers watch carefully to see how the world receives their work, so timely feedback is more valuable than a perfunctory retweet.
Tip: Choose your friends wisely. Building meaningful relationships with influential people online builds your knowledge base as well as your sphere of influence.more
