Last month, Microsoft unveiled its Surface Pro 3, the latest in its line of laptop-killing tablets. This iteration sought to replace both your laptop and tablet with the company pitching it as the only device you need for both work and play.
orwp-incontent-ad1">Of course, with Apple’s MacBook Air growing in popularity, the company is looking at ways to encourage adoption of its own tablet-laptop hybrid, and is offering a deal to get users to switch.
If you bring your MacBook Air into any of Microsoft’s brick-and-mortar stores, you’ll have the option of trading it in for up to $650incontent-ad2">
The new Surface tablet is lighter than Apple’s 11-inch MacBook Air, and comes with a pressure-sensitive smart pen that allows you to quickly write notes and upload them to the cloud automatically. It also has a high-resolution 12-inch display, larger than the iPad or 11-inch MacBook Air.
Microsoft recently made it easier for professionals to work with Office by unveiling its monthly Office subscription, Office 365, for as little as $6.99 per month. It gives you access to all Office applications as well as 1 terabyte of online storage in Microsoft’s cloud service OneDrive.
This isn’t the first time Microsoft’s specifically targeted Apple in their trade-in promotions. Last year the company’s target was the iPhone and iPad, and trading a recent iOS device netted you a minimum of $200 toward a Microsoft Surface or Windows Phone.
The deal is on until July 31, so you have a few weeks to decide whether you want to make the switch from Apple to Microsoft.
