EXCLUSIVE PHOTOS: President Obama Pays Homage to 9/11 Victims

The laying of the wreath was followed by a moment of silence in honor of those who fell victim during the 9/11 attacks.

I was a senior in high school when I got word that a plane hit one of the World Trade Center towers. I remember watching, assuming that the pilot got off course. But less than 20 minutes later, when the second tower was struck by yet another plane, I knew that wasn’t the case. Nearly 10 years later, now working as a media journalist, I stood in the same place where those towers fell. Today, following the killing of Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind the Sept. 11 terror attacks, President Obama marked the occasion—of what many feel as justice being served—with a wreath laying ceremony and a moment of silence at the 9/11 Memorial Plaza site. Today the country honored and celebrated the life and bravery of the nearly 3,000 people who died, illustrating the mantra that has become a part of that unforgettable day: “We will never forget.” Here are some photos, taken by BLACK ENTERPRISE, from the event. more
