Tell your aunties to cue up the DVR because everyone’s favorite soap star is returning to his roots for a special reason.
Shemar Moore, who made hearts explode as Malcolm Winters on The Young and The Restless from 1994 to 2005, will return to the place where it all started on May 8, according to Deadline. As the show marks its 50-year milestone, Moore will reprise his fan-favorite role alongside his TV daughter Lily, played by Christel Khalil, and nephews Devon (Bryton James) and Nate (Sean Dominic).
It won’t be Moore’s first time back as he’s reprised his role several times. Most recently, he returned to pay homage to late actor Kristoff St. John, who played his onscreen brother Neil Winters for nearly three decades his 2019 death. In Moore’s absence, the role of Malcolm was passed on to Darius McCrary, who played Eddie Winslow on the long-running hit sitcom Family Matters.
Though his tenure on The Young and The Restless came to an end, Moore was never short on work after leaving Winters behind. In the 90s and early ’00s, Shemar was one of the most in- demand leading men in TV and film. He starred in Criminal Minds for 11 years as Derek Morgan and currently plays Sergeant II Daniel “Hondo” Harrelson on S.W.A.T, a role he’s had since 2017.
Soap operas are often a launching pad for actors and The Young and The Restless is no different with tons of the who’s who of Hollywood making a stop on the show over the past five decades. Other famous stars and guest starts on the series include Eva Longoria, Vivica A. Fox, Smokey Robinson, Tatyana Ali, and Eva Marcille.
