Ramsey, who is being hailed a national hero, answered Berry’s cries for help in a nearby home on Monday. Ramsey and another witness broke a door to free Berry and two other missing women: Gina Dejesus, who disappeared in 2004, and Michelle Knight, who went missing in 2002.

anded the phone to Berry, whose exchange with a police dispatcher has gone viral. But it was Ramsey who grabbed the media’s attention with his description of the rescue and of the man who police believe was holding the women captive.“I barbecue with this dude,” Ramsey told a local news station. “We eat ribs and what not, listen to salsa music, you see where I’m coming from? Not a clue that that girl was in that house, or anybody else was in there against their will.”
