SHELLYE ARCHAMBEAU
FORMER CEO, METRICSTREAM
Archambeau had always set her sights on the CEO’s chair. At IBM, she worked her way up from intern to managing the company’s Asia Pacific public sector business, becoming the first African American woman to gain an international management assignment for the company. After her 15-year stint at Big Blue, she was tapped to serve as the president of Blockbuster’s e-commerce division. Eventually, she achieved her goal as CEO of Zaplet, which merged with MetricStream, a Silicon Valley-based, governance, risk, compliance, and quality software company. In her role, she built MetricStream into a global market leader recognized for growth and innovation that was named in the top 10 of the “Deloitte Technology Fast 50.” As she propelled through the ranks, she always positioned other African Americans—especially black women—for advancement. She’s also a leader in corporate governance, serving on the boards of Verizon, Nordstrom, and Roper Technologies.
