FAYE WATTLETON

FORMER PRESIDENT, PLANNED PARENTHOOD

One of the nation’s leading advocates for reproductive rights, Wattleton was the first African American and youngest executive to ever run Planned Parenthood Federation of America. During her tenure from 1978 to 1992, she grew Planned Parenthood to the seventh-largest nonprofit in the country with a budget of more than $500 million and provided services to roughly 4 million through 170 affiliates and international operations in countries such as Kenya and Thailand. Inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame, she continued her fight for gender equality through her stewardship of The Center for the Advancement of Women, a hub for research, advocacy, and leadership development, as well as service on more than 20 public and private boards, including The Estée Lauder Cos. and Empire Blue Cross and Blue Shield.
