The social media analytics company Klout announced on Tuesday they were rolling out a new scoring system, ditching the former 100-variables rating system and replacing it with one containing over 400 metrics, according to Mashable. The San Francisco-based tech company stirred up some controversy with their old scoring system, which many argued didn’t measure one’s “true influence.†(Case in point, Justin Bieber’s score trumping that of President Barack Obama’s until the recent change.) Now, Klout looks at over 12 billion bits of data each day across the seven social networking sites it looks at, which is 12 times greater than previously analyzed.
