8. The Country of New Zealand

In 2006, an Australian placed the entire country of New Zealand on eBay with an opening bid of a penny. According to an article from TheRegister.co.uk, the man who put the country up for sale had written in the eBay ad that the country had “very bad weather” and “the dodgiest America’s Cup win ever.” The ad was quickly removed by eBay, with a spokesman assuring the public that New Zealand was not for sale.
